Workshop 2
Workshop 2
After improving the kids' characters and drawings, sharing the enhancements to see their reactions was exciting. The second workshop took place on the last day of the Naktub workshop and focused on story making, specifically on how to combine all characters into one narrative.
After revealing the characters, the kids were excited and began brainstorming interesting ideas to combine the two puppet versions. Together, we built a story with a lesson related to friendship.
After finishing the second workshop, the story development became more structured. The next step involved building the set for the environment. Various approaches were tried, from working with yarns or fabrics to deciding whether the set should be on a huge scale or as tiny miniatures.
It was a very long process
Remember the developed characters that I revealed for kids during the second workshop, These characters could not stand still alone… the DIY armature done using wires and clay was not strong enough, plus the characters needed more modifications
To refine the armature and rebuild the characters for the third time, a search for ball and socket screws in Kuwait was conducted, but none were found. Online options were explored, and The Aardman set for stop motion and character making appeared very useful, though it was too expensive for purchasing eight armatures. Ultimately, the screws were bought from Amazon.
